WHERE TO START

Lighting systems are new and fascinating to me.

I am looking for recommendations where to start.

my plan is to grow plants (vegies) inside
in soil in pots. I would like to grow up to
12 plants in pots at any given time.
What size/type system do you recommend, budget is a concern.

Thanks.

best regards, bp

Re: WHERE TO START

Bill-
How much area are you looking to cover with your lights?

Re: WHERE TO START

As Matt said, it depends on the size of your area. To grow that many plants I'll assume you have approximately a 10x10 area. For a room of that size you'll need to have at least 1 1000w light. We now sell 1000w switchable systems. What this means is that you can use a metal halide for your vegetative cycle, then just throw the switch change to an H.P.S. bulb for the flowering cycle. Theses systems go for $519.95, and also come in 400w as well.
