bode miller's father

I am trying to grow wheatgrass hydroponically. I want to try a system where the berries are sprayed from above because I have read that the spray washes away harmful waste products more effectively than a mist. I want the spray(or sprinklers) to be mounted above the growing platform which measures 4'x16'. I can't tell from the descriptions in the catalog which product would work best. Any suggestions anyone? Thanks, Woody

Re: bode miller's father

Are you looking to have the sprayers mounted on risers from the platform, or have them mounted on something that is suspended from above the platform? If you are mounting them on risers, how high above the plants do you want the sprayers to be?

Re: bode miller's father

Look up aeroponic systems. I'm actually expermenting with a bubbler type (small setup)...the water is bubbled, highly oxygenated and the popping bubbles cause small beads of water to water the roots. I plan on using this for cloning. I'm doing strawberries as well as Steve below. They are really taking off in the ebb and flow system, the aeroponic seems to be working well too.

sprayers for wheatgrass+appropriate pump

I want to mount the sprayers(or sprinklers-I don't know the difference) above the growing area and above the direct light path. I also wonder what size pump would work best. Thanks

Re: bode miller's father

It's kind of hard to give you any exact specs right now. I'll need the length above your platform you want the sprayer heads to be. Also, I need to know how much tubing you are looking to use (to figure out how powerful your pump needs to be).

Re: bode miller's father

The length of tubing would be a total of about 50' which would be two parallel lines of 25'. The sprayer heads need to be about 2 feet above the grass to avoid blocking the light but could be more or less but I want to make sure no water hits the light which has a hood (from you) and runs about 30" above the grass, which is harvested at about 8". Thanks

Re: bode miller's father

Ok, so 2 25' lines, and 2ft high. How many gallons of water are you using for your reservoir?
